RV SERVICE SHOPS

I have been asked to provide a place for RV'ers to locate RV service facilities. While I may decide on a Database for this information, I feel that this would be a good location to input information about service facilities that you have used or know of. At this time, I don't know what the success of the endeavor will be. Those with information may enter it as a comment, and those searching for a shop check the comments.

With your help, this may become a valuable source of information.

PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR INPUT

I personally have little input at this time myself. If needed, I can reccomend or advise against several International Truck service shops.

I do reccoment the following RV shops:
    MorRyde in Elkhart, IN
In addition to installation and maintainence of their products, they have done other repairs for us. Service is excellent and we have been treated royally there. They provide electric hookup sites while waiting for service also. Reservations required

Ken Asel RV - Gerry, NY - Just north of Jamestown, NY on SR60.
They have always provided prompt and quality service. Not too large a shop so appointments may be needed. Do not have phone number at this time.

This from friend Dave Burgeson of Homestead Park, Frewsburg, NY

    Thanks Dave

    Andy, Ken Asel Phone# 716 985 4623 or 1 800 541 5353.

When we were in Elkhart IN. we had work done at
Charger RV Service. Haven't got there phone # here at
Homestead Park as it is in the M/H. Can get it to you
in the future. Good service, as Damon M/H Co. sent us
there as the were booked and couldn't get us in there
shop. Did what we needed done under Damon warranty. We
had electric hook up. Another is RV World in Nakomis
FL. We bought the Pace Arrow M/H there and they have a
good service dept. Last I knew they were building a
all new facility. Also the # is in the M/H. Both of
    these work on all RV,s.

Another place that gave prompt courteous service was Northwest Kenworth in Marysville, WA. Had our truck serviced there before trip back east.

I wanted a Slidetopper installed. Called Camping World in Seffner, FL last week. They said they could get me in next day (Unexpected) I opted to wait till 1PM yesterday - Jan 3. We arrived well before noon, and they had our rig in the service bay in about 15 minutes. Such service was certainly unexpected in view of the line of rigs waiting for service. Job was well done also.

While we were there, I inquired on restringing one of the Day/Night shades. They do not do that, but sent me to Wade RV which is located in the Lazy Days RV facility next door. They got right on that job, and finished reinstalling the shade just after the Slidetopper job was finished.

Speaking of Wade, there is a Wade RV/Mobile Home Parts located on US-19 just south of Homosassa, FL(no connection I am sure). However, Bill is very helpful, not only answering questions and obtaining parts not in stock, but also checking with suppliers for answers to questions he cannot answer himeslf.

When the wind damaged our patio awning, I found that Camping World near Tampa did not stock the lift handle/latch. They suggested Lazy Days, but a phone call there indicated that it may be in stock, but they would have to contact the manufacturer for a part number. I had checked local suppliers without any luck, but after waiting several days for a call from Lazy Days I went back to Coast RV Parts in Crystal River, FL. They located a used awning arm in the yard from which they removed the lift handle for only $10.00. Very helpful folks.

Also, our friend Cal Doud recently purchased a used motorhome from Lazy Days in Seffner, FL. He found a few items that needed to be covered while in warranty. The main problem was a water heater that was burning too rich. It was smoking up the side of the coach and also fumes were getting inside setting off the propane dectector. There was no air adjustment on the burner (may have been removed). The technician at Lazy Days said it was not supposed to have an air adjustment. He blew it out and said it was OK. However since Cal has returned home, he finds that the side of the coach is still getting smoked up.

I would reccomend caution with those folks. When we purchased our first 5th wheel from them, the slideout was not adjusted properly. They did make-do changes and tried to adjust several times before contacting Fleetwood for measurements. They then informed me if I was to bring it back, they would NOT adjust it under warranty. It still wasn't right and I had to make a trip to Woody's RV Repair (was doing Fleetwood warranty then) in Omaha, NE and pay for the adjustment before it was correct.

Woody now runs an independent shop in Omaha, but he has always provided prompt quality service for us.

I have bent the BAL scissor stabilizer jacks on our 5th Wheel several times. They are mounted too far back, but difficult to move. This time some of the parts appear to be too badly bent to straighten properly and also that would tend to weaken them. I contacted the factory and new parts are on the way at a reasonable price. In fact I ordered extras to save on shipping costs.

Also broke one of the mirrors on our truck. These are manufactured by Beach Manufacturing in Ohio. Again by contacting them, I got a prompt and reasonable replacement of the mirror head, using the esixting arms and outer shell.

    Reccomend both of these companies.

I had a blowout on out 5th wheel trailer while passing through the state of Georgia. As we were nearing the Tennessee border and it was getting late in the day, we went directly to Camping World. Unfortunately they did not have the needed tire in stock. However the Service Manager was very helpful in determing the needed tire as the model on our RV has been discontinued. He also called tire stores in an attempt to locate one locally.

The following day we stopped at a Goodyear tire store in Cleveland, TN. They also did not have the needed tire, but reccomended Appalachian Tire near Knoxville. We proceeded there to find they had sold the last one the day before. However, they installed a used tire on our spare at a price too low to mention. Service was great and prompt. I reccemond both of these facilities.

Another excellent Tire Shop is Baremore Sellstrom in Jamestown, NY. If they do not have your tire in stock they can usually get it in one day. Also they are equiped to service Heavy Duty trucks, so can handle RV's easily.
