Tuesday, March 29

Well, another update without much to report. Now have 19 radiation treatments behind me and 9 more to go. Ill effects are not worth mentioning.

Last week we were pretty well kept inside as we had mostly rainy days. We had about 8" of rain last week. Sunday was overcast, but the Sunrise Service on the lawn at church was very nice. We often eat out, and selected a good restaurant for our Easter Dinner.

After my treatment today I saw the doctor again. He seems very satisified with the progress. Then we checked the Schedule to find when the "Seed" implant is planned. That is scheduled for May 2 and then on the 12th I see the Oncologist, have X-Rays and a CT Scan to verify location of the implants. I understand there will be about 80 implanted.

Sure miss going to the Avion Travelcade Club rendezvous at Las Cruces. We were really looking forward to that one and planned on visiting friends and family along the way. But plans are made to be changed I guess. I certainly thank all of you that have been keeping us in your prayers, they are certainly appreciated and do help.

Till next time

Saturday March 12

Well, not a lot to report. We have gone to Boissoneault Oncology Institute in North Lecanto every weekday at 3PM. Treatments have been pretty much routing. They shoot me from 7 different angles with 6-8 pulses of varying lengths each. Usually walk right in without waiting, but have had to wait maybe 15 minutes 2 days. Most days we are only in the building about 20 minutes.

One day the DPW was working on the water mains, and they were afraid that water would be cut off before finishing (it is used to cool the electron tube in the machine), fortunately they still had water when we left.

Have done some shopping a few days on return and one of the stops was at Office Max in Crystal River where among other things I got a new Olympus 4 Megapixel digital camera. My other one had a problem with the switch that was bothersome.

Thursday evening I took Loretta to Stumpknockers in Inverness to celebrate her birthday. We had a great dinner there and a walk around part of Old Inverness. Other than that I don't have a lot to report - some Preventitive Maintenance and cleaning on the trailer, etc. We have eaten out quite a bit with Church dinners, those at the Moose Club and breakfasts with groups of friends.

The weather has been pretty good but somewhat cool for this time of year. Had one day of off and on rain and several that were overcast, but still MUCH better than in the north, HI

Guess that will do for now, so will close.

Thursday March 3

Sunday it rained all day. So we stayed near the trailer. The wind started to blow and a Tornado watch was in nearby counties, so I braved the weather to secure the awnings on the trailer. However we got no severe weather. Can’t say the same for the Atlantic coast northeast of us. A Tornado did touch down there damaging some housed that had just been repaired from last summer’s Hurricanes.

Monday was clear and nice so we went to Bowling Green to visit some of our friends at Avion Palms. There was a lot more cleanup work to be done around Wachula and Bowling Green than there was in Arcadia. We also did some shopping on way home. In the evening, I played a game of chess with Glenn. Neither had played in a long time, but he is still sharper than I. Tuesday I did some minor repairs and started to get ready to move. In the evening Loretta and I taught 2 of the girls how to play Joker.

Yesterday we finished getting ready to travel and said our farewells. We had a nice trip back to Homosassa stopping for lunch in Lakeland, propane and dump tanks near San Antonio and fuel near Brooksville. When we arrived at Cal and Marilyn’s we found mail had arrived. So spent rest of day catching up on that.

Today was the start of my radiation therapy at the Cancer Center near Lecanto. They had extra setup work today - X-rays, etc, so I probably was on the table for the better part of an hour. Awful hard to lay still that long. They exposed me to the radiation from seven different angles as the machine can rotate completely around the table. Today’s visit was in the morning, but I selected an afternoon appointment for the next 27 treatments. After finishing there, we went to Inverness for lunch and shopping. Before we got home it was raining again, so we spent rest of day at inside tasks.
